• The first thing to do is to request for references from your nanny. You can ask for at least three to four references which inlcude the name, address and the contact number of the person. You can ask them on how this certain nanny performed when she was still working for them, the reason why she left them and if they recommend this nanny to be hired by you. If in any cases you didn't get to contact any of the references that she gave, you can get more references. Or if these references can't give you a lot of information, you can ask them if they know someone who knows your nanny so that you can conduct the investigation.

• The second one is letting your nanny give you her personal information such as, full name, date of birth, location, number of her driver's license, and five or six past employers. You can also ask for some contact numbers and addresses of her relatives, family, schools that she attended and of course the addresses where she live before. You should create a letter where she is giving you the authority to do some nanny background checks, let her sign it.

• Now, you can all her relatives, family members and such to make sure that what she gave you are all legitimate. You can interview them through phone or through a meeting. Ask about her attitude and everything that you need to learn and you want to learn for her to be your kid's nanny. Make sure that you don't sound accusing or something for them to not be scared or for them to not get too intimadated of you and your questions.
